Due to a work accident I was referred to Dr. Toman where it was discovered that I had a complex tear of my right Miniscus. I could barely walk without crutches. The doctor performed arthroscopic surgery on my knee and within three weeks I was playing tennis and riding my bike. I can’t thank him enough for giving my active lifestyle back to me.

I live in Fort Myers FL. I was refer to Dr. Toman In Sept. of 2012 from an Orthopedic doctor in Fort Myers I called and scheduled the appointment and seen Dr. Toman in October for left hip/groin pain. At that appointment we made the decision from the MRI and physical exam to do a hip scope to repair the labrum tear and also do microfractrue to repair the cartilage. I had the surgery done in December of 2012 at Sarasota hospital and now 3 months post op and feeling great. Recovery was a breeze and was able to do physical therapy here in Fort Myers. This surgery helped me to restore my hip and put off a total hip replacement for awhile, as I am to young at 33 to have total hip replacement. I would Like to Thank Dr. Toman and his staff for the amazing job they do for their patients.

Dr. Toman recently performed surgery on my right knee. Prior to the surgery Dr. Toman evaluated the condition/damage to my right knee. He was very clearly on what I should expect from the surgery. My surgery and recovery exceeded my expectations! I was extremely satisfied with the results. I plan on having Dr. Toman perform surgery on my left knee later this month. Dr. Toman is truly a professional with an excellent staff I would highly recommend him to anyone!

I suffered from arthritis in my knees for a long time. I went through protocols of anti-inflammatory drugs, cortisone injections, and synovial fluid injections. I was thinking that I was ready to do something with better results. I am very pleased with the two total knee replacements Dr. Toman performed on me: the first one 6 months ago; and the second, 4 months ago. After both surgeries I returned to work (in a sedentary job) by three weeks post surgery. One month after the most recent surgery, I began riding my bike outdoors. After six months, I am walking very well, have some stiffness but no pain, and am even able to run my dog in agility class. I bike three to four times a week. I also am able to get down and up from the floor for sit ups, push ups, and other floor exercises. I have knelt on my knees on very cushioned areas with no pain. Dr. Toman presented me with options. He was clear about my choices and presented information in a straight-forward, easy-for-a-layperson-to-understand manner. I was very comfortable talking to him about my concerns and hopes. He was extremely supportive and caring in the hospital (even on Thanksgiving Day!) and available by phone when I had questions during the early recovery phase at home. Every medical practitioner I have met since my surgery (including physical therapists and doctors) has said how fortunate I was to have such a wonderful surgeon as my doctor, and I agree. Get your active life back–go see Dr. Toman

I suffered for several months with increasing pain (8-9) in my right hip to the point where it was very painful to walk even with pain medications. I went to see Dr. Toman because of the excellent work he did repairing my wife’s cervical disks. His diagnosis was a bone spur aggravating my bursa causing acute bursitis. On December 7, 2012, Dr. Toman arthroscopicly removed the spur, bursa, and while he was in there “cleaned up” my hip joint. Immediately after the operation the previous pain was gone and after 4 days I was off of all post surgery pain medications. In the future, if I need Dr. Toman’s services again I will definitely drive the 45 minutes from Punta Gorda to Sarasota

I am a 66 year-old male, fairly active, and had total posterior right hip replacement surgery (in NYC) June 2011. I must admit, I was very happy with the results. Needless to say, after coming to Sarasota this past October, my left hip was deteriorating to such a point, that I was trying to last through the winter months, before going back to NY to see my surgeon. In the meantime I thought of trying to get an injection down here for temporary relief. After my original visit/consultation with Dr. Toman in January, I decided to have the surgery done here. Dr Toman performed the surgery on Feb 5 using the anterior approach. The results have been amazing. I walked out of the hospital using a cane on February 7. On February 9th I was able to walk 2 miles with no pain, only the normal stiff/tight feeling around the incision. On February 10 I got rid of the cane and continue to do the routine prescribed excercises and walking. I have even been to the gym to bike and walk the treadmill, as well as some upper body excercising. After my original posterior surgery it took me 6 weeks rigorous outpatient physical therapy and home excercising, to get to the same point of physicality that I was at, one week after Dr. Toman’s anterior surgery !(With no outpatient p.t. at all!) As I stated before, It has truly been an amazing outcome! The total experience of the entire process, from the start, has been great! Only regret is that I didn’t have this done with the first hip! My sincere appreciation to Doctor Toman, all his staff and the Orthopedic Unit at Sarasota Memorial! Truly caring professionals!

How do you measure the greatness of a fanastic surgeon? I guess one way is to determine the quality of life of a patient before and after surgery. Personally, I know my physical ability has been restored to my left shoulder. In addition, my golf game has improved dramatically. Dr Toman operated on my left shoulder rotator cuff in January 2011. The shoulder was a mess, I hurt it playing golf, and he did a great job in attching the muscle back to my shoulder. After the surgery and a few months of physical theraphy, I was back swinging a golf club without any pain or loss of motion. Because of Dr. Toman’s skills and care I was able to win three Club Chamionships in 2012 and another two so far in 2013. I highly recommend Dr Toman to anyone who needs a great and competent Doctor and Surgeon. Thank you again, Dr Toman, you have made a big impact on my life.

I will be 77 years young, come march 25th, before discovering my rotator cuff tear and the pain that followed, I was very active as a senior “BobyBuilder” and hold my share of first place titles in local contest. My family Doctor recommended Dr. Toman and the very first thing he said to me was, I have good news for you, I can fix the problem with your shoulder authoscopically and you can be back to your active sport. That was great news to my ears. After 4 weeks in a sling, Dr. Toman recommended me to a great Physical Therapy Team close to my work place. This is my 7th week post operation, the pain is gone, and I’m feeling great. In closing I just want to pass on my awesome experience and the confidence that was instill in me thru Dr. Toman and his caring professional team. I recommend Dr. Toman for anyone in need of Orthopedic Surgery.

I FIRST CONSULTED WITH DR TOMAN WHEN HIS OFFICE WAS IN PUNTA GORDA. BEFORE I DECIDED TO GO AHEAD WITH A HIP REPLACEMENT, HE MOVED HIS PRACTICE TO SARASOTA. DURING MY PUNTA GORDA MEETINGS WITH HIM, I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH HIS KNOWLEDGE OF THE “NEW, LESS-INVASIVE PROCEDURE”, I DECIDED TO STAY WITH HIM. I WAS REWARDED WITH A MOST SUCCESSFUL OUTCOME; WALKING THE DAY AFTER SURGERY WITH NO HIP PAIN FROM THAT DAY FORWARD. I’M BACK TO SMACKING THE GOLF BALL (ALTHOUGH THE SURGERY HAS NOT CURED MY SLICE). DR TOMAN’S STAFF IS COURTEOUS AND I’M PARTICULARLY IMPRESSED WITH COBY WHO SEEMS TO BE ALWAYS RIGHT THERE WHEN NEEDED. I’VE YET TO DECIDE IF I SHOULD GO AHEAD WITH A SHOULDER REPLACEMENT; IF I DO, THERE WILL BE NO PROBLEM IN SELECTING DR TOMAN TO DO THE JOB.

My primary physician recommended Dr. Toman for my rotator cuff surgery. Now, six months after surgery I am happy to say that I have full range of motion. I am pleased with the care I received and would definitely have Dr. Toman perform any other joint surgery I might need.
