Dr. Toman came highly recommended to me after I had told some friends about the severe pain I was having in my left hip. I was convinced that I was going to need a complete hip replacement at age 64. I went to see Dr. Toman and he put my mind at ease and he scheduled me for outpatient surgery. Dr. Toman performed a repair of my labral tear and I left the hospital with absolutely no pain at all. Eight weeks later and after therapy I am happy to say that I am pain free and able to do all the activities of my choice and the best part is Dr. Toman saved me from doing a total hip replacement. Dr. Toman is very skilled in his field and he is also one heck of a nice fellow.
I am a 53 yr old female who has been very active in sports all my life. Approx. 5 yrs ago, I was having alot of problems with my knees. I finally said enough was enough and realized that my knee pain was impacting my ability to participate in sports and even walking was a chore. I tried injections and medication and still struggled with the daily pain. Finally, I met Dr. Toman and he agreed that a total knee replacement would give me the quality of life I was looking for. Alot of doctors wanted me to wait 10 more yrs due to my age, but I felt that this was the time in my life when I wanted to be active and not be limited in movement. Who knows how long you have on this earth, so why lose 7 yrs of my life. Today I am 12 weeks post surgery and I feel great. I walk 5 miles a day without PAIN. I have returned to the gym and I am amazed at how I feel. I am now ready to have my other knee operated on. Dr. Toman is extremely caring and professional doctor and I am really happy that I found him. Don’t be afraid to have a knee replaced. So what if I have to do this in 15 to 20 yrs again, at least I am able to do what I want to do today.
My rotator cuff was injured and the MRI showed a possible partial tear in the tendon. Dr. Toman met with me and answered all my questions. He even took the time to draw me a picture explaining what the surgery entailed. When he did the surgery he also found a tear in a muscle and took the time to repair that also. During therapy I had numbness and pain in my shoulder and arm. Dr. Toman took the time to come into therapy and give me a quick examination to ensure everything was healing properly. I am completely satisfied and would highly recommend Dr. Toman for your next surgery. Thank you Chuck! Gary Shimp
I was referred to Dr. Toman by my family physican with a torn meniscus. I was in severe pain. His office got me in within 3 days and surgery was scheduled immediately. The treatment I received by Dr. Toman’s staff, as well as in Fawcett hospital was better than excellent. It was superb. Following surgery I was walking the next day. I was very surprised. I expected to be a few days before beginning to get up on my feet again. Dr. Toman referred me for PT following my surgery. The Physical Therapy I received following surgery was also excellent. The PT staff was accommodating, considerate and kind. I recovered so quickly I only needed to receive PT for two weeks. Both arriving and departing Dr. Toman’s care was a medical experience far beyond the usual doctor/patient care. I have run into two of Dr. Toman’s patients and they also have had nothing but highly respectful and above satisfactory things to say about Toman. Dr. Toman is a marvelous person, as well as physician and surgeon. I highly recommend him for any orthopedic care you might need.
Dr. Toman replaced my left shoulder at Fawcett Memorial Hospital at the beginning of April. I highly recommend Dr. Toman. There has been no pain throughout the procedure and my recovery. Home health care was arranged including physical therapy. Outpatient PT was started after 4 weeks and will be continued during my stay up north. Thank you Dr. Toman and staff.
It is one of the best decisions I have made. My shoulder was bothering me to the point that I had trouble sleeping and raising my arm. My wife kept after me to see a doctor. From my first visit with D.Toman, I knew that I had made the correct decision. He lets you know that your health comes first. My shoulder was very bad and he needed to do alot of work, but I am now almost back to normal. He told me that it would put 10 mph on my fastball and I am almost there. The pain after surgery wasn’t as bad as I had expected. I was very surprised at my recovery but I followed the Doctor’s instructions and did not try to push it. My job requires me to do a lot of moving of heavy objects and after 6 months I am not quite at 100%. but by following physical therapy I am well on my way to full activity. Doctor Toman was very up front with me and said it would take a long time to get back and not to try to rush it. I am very satisfied with the experience and would like to say Thank You to Dr. Toman and his staff.
On Feb. 8, 2011 Dr. Toman performed a right total shoulder replacement and muscle re-attachment on me. I was 70/1/2 at the time. His skill was obvious by my recovery time. Ten weeks after surgery I was released from physical therapy. After my surgery Dr. Toman took my wife and son from the waiting room to a separate room to discuss how my surgery had gone. I highly recommend Dr. Toman for any type of orthopedic surgery. Romeo P. Lemieux
In the middle of July 2010 I had an unfortunate fall which resulted in the dislocation of my right shoulder. I was taken to the Portsmouth, NH Hospital where the shoulder was reset. About 12 weeks later the shoulder was still very uncomfortable and it was decided to have further x-rays and MRI which revealed the rotator cuff to be torn. In view of the fact that I would be returning to Florida I decided to have the surgery performed here in Punta Gorda. I consulted with my Primary Care Physician, Dr. Juan Rivera who recommended Dr. Charles Toman for the surgical procedure. An appointment was made for the examination and scheduled surgery. I was very impressed with Dr. Toman. The surgery went very well with no problems or complications. After (6) six weeks in a special sling and a total of 12 weeks therapy both at home and at the therapy office I was discharged. My shoulder is almost 100% back to normal and I continue to improve with the prescribed regimen of therapy. I credit Dr. Toman with this remarkable surgery and would highly recommend his services and expertise to anyone that might inquire of me.
Dr. Toman did a complete knee replacement on me in November of 2010. I was only in the hospital 3 days and at the end of 2 weeks I was in out patient therapy. Dr. Toman’s outstanding skill as a surgeon and advance technology had me up and moving well within 6 weeks. His professional and personal contact with his patients is fantastic. I highly recommend Dr. Toman as an orthopedic surgeon. My name is Dan Smith and I am 75 years old.
Dr.Charles Toman replaced my left knee in October of 2010. In 5 days I was walking, doing my outpatient rehabilitation and exercising. My 90 year old Aunt also had her knee replaced and she was walking, after just one week, to my house (which is about a block away) I can’t thank Doctor Toman enough, for now I am a new ME.
